Premier's and Minister's Message

Last updated on November 17, 2025

The world is changing and B.C. is ready. We are uniquely positioned with our geography, our resources, and our innovative, diverse workforce to build our economy, protect what’s important to us and lead the country in generating jobs and prosperity. Our door is open, and we are welcoming the world.

We are turning the Trump administration’s tariff threats into an opportunity to find new partners and new markets. We have fast-tracked nation-building projects, provided support to workers and brought the federal government in to help transform forestry.

In the past few months, B.C. has almost half of the major projects announced by the federal government. Here’s what we’ll do next:

  • Strengthen our workforce by doubling investment in skilled trades training by 2028-29
  • Build major projects faster with $200 billion in investment and faster permits
  • Diversify markets and grow industries by securing 35% of federal defence vessel contracts, and doubling employment in tech and life sciences

Train British Columbians to work in our critical minerals mining, infrastructure and energy projects.

Build the North Coast Transmission Line, a line that will be co-owned with First Nations and will provide B.C.’s 98% renewable energy to the northwest.

Grow our diverse sectors, such as technology, the marine sector, agriculture, aerospace and life sciences, to take on new markets around the world.

The recent federal budget announced $6.6 billion over five years on spending for its forthcoming defence industrial strategy. We will ensure that B.C. gets its fair share and that this money helps B.C. grow important sectors.

When presented with great challenges, British Columbians meet the moment—and work together to get big things done. This is one of those moments.

B.C. is proud to become the new economic engine of Canada, delivering prosperity to all Canadians.
