BC Hydro Sustainable Communities Program

The BC Hydro Sustainable Communities program helps local governments improve their energy efficiency and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by providing expertise, education and financial incentives.

Funds and resources are available for:

  • Community energy and emissions plan: A comprehensive, long-term plan designed to limit energy consumption and the creation of greenhouse gases, and to improve energy efficiency.
  • Community plans: Include an energy component in a community planning process to improve energy-efficiency for buildings and land use.
  • Community energy manager: A dedicated resource within local government responsible for the CEEP implementation and other energy solutions and policy options.
  • Interns and Co-op students: A junior resource within local government, dedicated to driving community-wide energy efficiency.
