Amplify BC supports people working in B.C.’s diverse music economy, including B.C. artists, live music presenters and music companies. The fund focuses on these program areas:

  • Music Industry Initiatives supports initiatives that grow B.C.’s music ecosystem
  • Record in BC attracts established out-of-province artists to record in B.C.
  • Career Development supports careers of emerging and established artists in B.C.
  • Live Music supports B.C.-based live music events, creating engagement opportunities for audiences and artists
  • Demo Recording supports new artists from systemically excluded groups living in B.C. to create demo recordings and engage in mentorship with local music producers
  • Business Foundations invests in growing businesses owned by people from systemically excluded groups in B.C.’s music ecosystem, to expand and develop networks, capacity and infrastructure
  • Music Company supports the sustainability, growth and capacity of B.C.’s music companies

Creative BC manages and adapts Amplify BC’s programs each year to meet the changing needs of the music industry as part of B.C.’s economic recovery.

Administration

Creative BC manages provincial grant programs serving B.C.’s music and sound recording industry. The goal is to position the province as a global competitor within a dynamic and ever-changing international context. Through the Amplify BC fund, Creative BC supports B.C. artists, sound professionals and music companies.

On April 19, 2023, the Province of B.C. committed to funding $22.5 million over three years for Amplify BC to build the province’s music talent and help launch careers, extending the province’s music funding programs until 2027.
