Commodity codes

The UNSPSC is open, international, and composed of a four-level hierarchical classification code set. It is a widely-used product and service categorization system. 

Using a standardized and modern procurement taxonomy like the UNSPSC: 

• Allows for consistent recording and reporting of procurement information 

• Helps to meet reporting obligations established through policy and trade agreements 

• Provides a navigation method for both buyers and suppliers and improves search functions
