Training Institutions Offering Authorized Inspector and Facility Operator Courses

Institutions located throughout B.C. offer training for Designated Inspection Facility operators,  Preventative Maintenance Program Facility operators and vehicle inspectors.

Requirements

Facility Operator Training

New Designated Inspection Facility (DIF) operators and Preventative Maintenance Program Facility operators are required to successfully complete an Inspection Facility Operator course before they will be issued a licence to operate.

Authorized Inspectors Training

Only trade qualified vehicle technicians, licenced by the CVSE Vehicle Inspection & Standards Program, are authorized to conduct vehicle inspections in B.C.

Authorized inspector courses are offered to trade qualified mechanics at participating training institutions.

Upon successful completion of the authorized inspector’s course, once all eligibility requirements have been met, upon verification, you will be emailed that your application has been approved. You can then login to the portal to download or print your certificate.

Optional Endorsements

Air Brake Repair

Please note that an airbrake endorsement on your driver’s licence is not acceptable. It must be an airbrake repair course.

• Email a photocopy of your proof of completion of an Air Brake Repair course offered at a Community College or Training institution

Pressure  Fuel                                                             

• Email a photocopy of your valid Gas Vehicle Conversion Certificate of qualification from the BC Safety Authority (Gas Safety Branch) in one of the following pressure fuel types of:
  • LPG (propane)
  • CNG (natural gas)
  • CNLP (propane & natural gas)
  • LPNG (liquid propane natural gas)

Upon verification, you will be emailed a notice of change. You can then login to the portal to download or print your certificate.
