Objective

To evaluate the growth performance of western USA Engelmann and Colorado blue spruce provenances in southwestern British Columbia.

​Treatment

Seedlings from 114 seed sources from eight western states are tested. Seedlings were provided by G. Rehfeldt, USDA, Forest Service, Moscow, Idaho.

Layout

  • The site contains three blocks
  • A nine-tree square plot represents a provenance. Provenances are randomized within each block
  • The middle seedling of each plot is marked with a wooden stake bearing a metal tag identifying the block and the provenance
