About the Data Innovation Program

The Data Innovation Program supports population-level analysis. This high level analysis unlocks the potential for new insights that can lead to better programs and services for people in B.C. 

Population-level research analyzes data and identifies trends that can be generalizable to all people living in B.C. or a subset of people in B.C. who share a common characteristic, such as:

• Health condition
• Age
• Income
• Education

What the program does

B.C. ministries and other government organizations collect and manage their own data. Data Innovation Program links existing datasets from ministries or agencies and de-identifies them in a secure platform. This secure analytics environment then supports population-level research projects. These projects aim to better understand trends and complex issues in B.C.
