Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship

Find out if you’re a good candidate for this scholarship by reviewing the eligibility requirements. If you’d like to apply, please complete the following application form and submit it to us along with all required documents by March 31, 2014.


Students applying for this scholarship must be:

  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant) at the time of writing their provincial exams
  • A B.C. resident
  • In their graduating year with graduation to occur by August 31
  • Eligible for a British Columbia Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma)

Selection Criteria for Applicants

We’re looking for applicants who are:

  • In their graduating year
  • Maintaining a B average in all Grade 11 and 12 courses required for graduation, with no more than one Grade 12 mark at a C+ level
  • Showing evidence of commitment to and aptitude for a teaching career

Every year, the Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship (PTES) is awarded to 20 outstanding high school graduates. Each award recipient will receive a $5,000 tuition voucher for one of B.C.’s faculty of education programs.

When you submit your application, make sure you have included:

  • Two references – one from a community person and one from someone at your school (included these your application package)
  • A resume
  • A written response that outlines why you want to be a teacher
  • Any additional items (portfolios, videos or other materials) that you would like considered with your application

Collection of Personal Information Notification

For the purpose of processing Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarships (PTES), students’ personal information will be collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Section 26 (c). Students’ personal information is used to process payment of the PTES.
