Topographic data provides detail on British Columbia's terrain, elevation and land features. The topography of B.C. is used to create maps of the provincial landbase.

Base Maps

Base map data forms the backbone of any type of map creation, onto which specialized geospatial data layers are added. Maps depict fundamental information such as terrain, boundaries and roads. Elevation is represented by using contour lines, shading and other methods.

Base map information provides a common digital framework for various land information retrieval systems in British Columbia by using common standards and specifications for data capture.
