  • Boards, commissions or councils appointed by an Act or minister

  • Childcare facilities
  • Corporations that are mainly owned by the government
  • Daycares
  • Education authorities
  • Governing bodies under the Health Professions Act or Social Workers Act
  • Health boards
  • Hospitals
  • Organizations or people who receive annual provincial funding
  • Post-secondary institutions
  • Provincial government ministries and related agencies
  • School boards
  • Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Some volunteer organizations

Volunteer organizations

Volunteer organizations are covered by the CRRA if:

  • The organization is provincially funded, licensed or contracted
  • The organization has volunteers that work with children under 19 or vulnerable adults. Volunteers can't have any monetary compensation, including gift cards

If the CRRA doesn't apply to your organization 

Criminal record checks can be completed by an applicant's local police or RCMP detachment.
