Clean Infrastructure Royalty Credit Program
The Province is initiating a new $20 million program this year to add to BC’s current successful oil and natural gas royalty programs. The Clean Infrastructure Royalty Credit Program will support the use of clean technologies and result in greenhouse gas emissions reductions from BC’s oil and natural gas sector. The Program will advance British Columbia’s position as a leader in clean technology and responsible development.
The 2016 program will focus on retrofit, replacement or conversion projects that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from venting sources. Example projects could include high-bleed to low-bleed pneumatic device conversions, instrument gas to instrument air conversions, solar-powered pump installations, and vent gas capture projects.
Through the Clean Infrastructure Royalty Credit Program, oil and gas companies can apply for a credit to the royalties they would otherwise pay to the Province, up to 50 per cent of the cost of a project. Companies will be required to fund upfront the entire costs of the emissions reduction project.
