Re: Safety Glass Near Bathtubs, Article 9.6.5.7.

With reference to your letter of December 22, 1987, regarding the use of safety glass for windows in the vicinity of bathtubs. We assume that the windows are in a location where safety glass is definitely required, pursuant to Article 9.6.5.7.

The purpose of the safety glass is to protect an occupant in the event of physical impact. If sealed units are used we consider that this would be achieved if the inside sheet consisted of safety glass. It would not be necessary for both sheets to be of safety glass in those areas of the enclosure where dual sheets are used.
