Re: Penetration of Fire Separation, Article 3.2.1.2.

With reference to your letter of July 27, 1989 regarding the application of Article 3.2.1.2.

For the purposes of Sentence 3.2.1.2.(2) we would consider the use of a tested and listed fire penetration assembly to be an acceptable method of protecting the penetration. You provide no details of your device, but it must have been tested by a certifying agency accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, to maintain the 2 hour rating required for the separation, and be installed in strict compliance with the terms of the listing.
