Re: Kachelofen-Tile Stove

With reference to your letter of January 31, 1989 regarding acceptance of a European type ceramic tile stove.

The stove in question relies on the heat storage capacity of ceramic tiles, similar in principle to the "Russian" type masonry stoves. These stoves are not addressed in the Building Code.

The manufacturer's instructions do not appear to be in contravention of any provisions of the Building Code, thus, provided that the stove is installed by a qualified person, and attention given to the applicable clearances from combustibles, we have no objection to its installation.
