The Ministry of Finance provides outreach services to assist British Columbians in preparing for the new provincial sales tax (PST), which came into effect on April 1, 2013. Various services are offered as a part of the outreach program.
If you operate a business in B.C., you can sign up for a ministry PST Specialist to review your accounting and reporting systems to ensure your systems are properly set up to comply with the provincial sales tax laws. The program is called PSTEP and it replaces the one-on-one consultations with a PST Specialist.
The ministry offers online interactive webinars to provide information about the return to a new BC PST. Topics include general PST application, registration and our new online services option, called eTaxBC.
Currently, there are no online interactive webinars scheduled. Please check back in the new year for online interactive webinar dates in 2014.
On March 12th, the ministry hosted the first industry specific webinar for the restaurant and food services industry. The topics included general PST application, registration and information about our new online services option, called eTaxBC.
The ministry has conducted seminars across the province to assist businesses with the transition to the PST. Seminars were presented through local Chambers of Commerce and similar organizations.
If you represent a Chamber of Commerce or similar organization and are interested in hosting a seminar for your members, please email us at PST.OutreachProject@gov.bc.ca
