PST webinars and seminars

The Ministry of Finance offers outreach services to help you understand provincial sales tax (PST) and your obligations when you buy, sell or lease taxable goods and services. We offer PST education through general webinars to businesses, as well as industry-specific webinars and seminars for industry and professional associations. We will also participate in industry and business events to provide tax knowledge and resources to attendees.

PST webinar series

These free webinars provide an overview of how PST may apply to your business. Each webinar consists of a presentation followed by an interactive question-and-answer period.

PST Fundamentals – This one-hour webinar covers PST basics for businesses including:

  • Who needs to register to collect PST
  • How to register
  • How to file and pay PST
  • Who qualifies as a small seller
  • Exemptions
  • How to self-assess PST
  • Additional resources

PST on Professional Services – This one hour and 15-minute webinar provides an overview on the expansion of PST to certain professional services which takes effect October 1, 2026. This webinar is relevant to professionals who provide the following:

  • Accounting services, including bookkeeping and assurance services
  • Architectural services
  • Engineering and geoscience services
  • Security services, including private investigation services
  • Non-residential real estate services, including trading services, rental property management services and strata management services

During this webinar we will discuss exemptions, registration, when PST is payable and provide other resources.

Real Property Contractors – This one hour and 15-minute webinar is designed specifically for those in the real property contractor industry, such as painters, locksmiths, electricians, landscapers and drywall installers.

This webinar covers:

  • Who is considered a contractor
  • Examples of applying PST
  • Exemptions specific to contractors
  • Additional resources

Before registering for the Real Property Contractors webinar, we recommend you have a good working knowledge of PST. You may want to register for our PST Fundamentals webinar first.

Registration for our webinars is through Zoho, a web-based platform that works on most modern web browsers.

To register:

  1. Read the disclosure statement below
  2. Click on the desired session date
  3. Fill out the registration form

You will receive an email with a link to join the webinar when you first register. You will also receive a reminder email 24 hours before the webinar.

The Ministry of Finance uses Zoho to manage registration for webinars. Your personal information is collected for the purposes of managing webinar registration. Webinar registration using Zoho is voluntary.
