General

Capitalized terms not defined in this Privacy Policy are used as defined in the EULA.

Access to your Information

Except as set out below, you are the only one who will have access to your Content and other information in BC Wallet. The Province does not collect any personal information or other information from you through BC Wallet unless you choose to share your information, as described below.

Your wallet PIN

You create a wallet PIN when you use BC Wallet. Your wallet PIN is used only to unlock BC Wallet. It is stored locally on your device and is not accessible to the Province or to third parties through BC Wallet.

Device Security and Biometrics

You can set BC Wallet to unlock with your device’s biometric security instead of your wallet PIN. With device security, when you open BC Wallet it will ask your device operating system to prompt you to authenticate. BC Wallet will receive confirmation if you were authenticated but will never get access to your biometric information or device password.

Use of the camera

The camera is activated temporarily when you select the “Scan” button inside the BC Wallet. The camera is used only to identify a QR code, so you can receive credentials or send information from credentials. The BC Wallet does not use or store any other camera information.

Notification of information sharing

BC Wallet notifies you each time you choose to send information to any services that you interact with. You receive a notification each time you are about to send information using your digital credentials, and you can confirm if you wish to continue or to decline sharing that information.

Usage information

Information about your use of the BC Wallet is stored within the BC Wallet and is not shared by BC Wallet without your consent.

Information Shared from BC Wallet

You may choose to use BC Wallet to send credential information or a message to another party, including a service offered by the Province. When you share credential information, the issuer of the credential is not informed.

No usage information is provided to the Province unless you explicitly opt-in to one of the following features:

  • Crash reports. Crash reports include only anonymized code execution information and do not include personal information.

  • Remote troubleshooting. BC Government Help Desk staff may suggest you enable remote troubleshooting in BC Wallet to help them investigate an issue you are experiencing with BC Wallet. If you turn on remote troubleshooting, information about each transaction your BC Wallet makes, the type and version of your mobile device, and the version of the Licensed Application will be sent to BC Government. This may include personal information about you or others. You can turn off remote troubleshooting at any time. It will automatically turn off after 1 hour.

Applicable Laws

Information collected by the Province is subject to the laws applicable in British Columbia including BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Who to contact if you have questions
