Kristi is the vegetation ecologist for the Cariboo Forest Region. She works on Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification, interpretation, and training. Other research interests include the dynamics and ecological resilience of dry Douglas-fir forests and grassland succession and classification.

Current research projects

  • Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC) for the IDFdw and ESSFwc3 and updates to the existing field guide for the Cariboo region. Collaboration on classification and mapping in portions of the Nelson and Thompson Okanagan Region
  • Hydrological and vegetation dynamics of pothole wetlands in grasslands
  • Ecology of high-elevation grasslands in the Elk Valley
  • Vegetation response to thinning and prescribed fire in Interior Douglas-fir forests
