Re: Electrical Installation for Log Cabin, Article 9.35.1.2.

With reference to your letter of December 6, 1989, regarding electrical wiring to a log cabin.

While your letter does not indicate the reason for the inspector's position, we assume that Article 9.35.1.2. of the Building Code is being applied. This Article requires electrical facilities in conformance with the Code where electrical services are available. We consider this to mean that if such a service is reasonably available in the vicinity of your cabin, then you will require electric wiring, even if the connection to the service is not made at this time.

We appreciate your situation, but have no authority to relax any provisions of the Building Code.
