Section 55 - Mediation May be Authorized
Section 55 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
In most cases, the Commissioner will authorize a staff mediator to investigate and to try to settle matters under review. The mediator does not impose a settlement. Rather, mediation is intended to help the public body and the applicant arrive at a settlement before a formal inquiry is initiated.
