Legal cannabis stores are required to post their provincial licence or authorization number in their store and posters for responsible cannabis consumption.

Recognizing illegal cannabis retailers
Look for these red flags to recognize an illegal cannabis retailer:
- ships cannabis "anywhere in Canada"
- no age verification
- no physical store location or street address
- illicit cannabis products have no excise stamp
- offers free cannabis gifts and samples
- offers friend referral programs
- sells other substances such as psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
- accepts e-transfer or cryptocurrency
- does not accept credit card payments
