BC Timber Sales - Timber Sale Licences (TSLs)

BC Timber Sales (BCTS) sells about 10-13 million cubic metres of public timber through competitive auction.

This timber is available to loggers, wood processors and other forestry businesses. The auction of timber sales licences determines the market value of timber harvested from public (Crown) land, which is used to set the stumpage rate and ensure British Columbian’s receive a fair price for our shared timber resource.

Register

Individuals and corporations must be registered in order to submit a bid for a timber sale licence auction.

For Category 1 - Market registration applications:

• Application to Register as an Individual (FS 590A)
• Application to Register as a Corporation (FS 590B)

In certain circumstances, the B.C. government may refuse a cutting permit (CP) or road permit (RP) application that is wholly or partially contained in a BCTS operating area.

Timber sale licence opportunities are posted on BC Bid Portal: BC Bid (gov.bc.ca)

Business area sales schedules

Each business area publishes a sales schedule of potential timber sales licences for a 12-month period.

Submit an application and tender

Applicants may apply for timber sale licence opportunities electronically or through paper bid. BCTS provides clients an opportunity to participate in the process to submit TSL tender applications electronically (e-Bidding) through BC BID. You will require a Business BCeID to register with BC BID to submit electronic applications through BC BID. Note that paper bids do not require a BCeID or BC BID registration.
