Payment for restricted diagnostic facility services is on a fee-for-service basis and is facilitated through an assignment of payment process, which links a practitioner to an approved facility for the purpose of billing BC’s publicly-funded Medical Services Plan (MSP).

The modality links below contain categories of fee items that can be provided and billed to MSP upon approval from the Advisory Committee on Diagnostic Facilities or the Medical Services Commission.  These fees can also be found in the Medical Services Commission’s Payment Schedule.

Restricted Diagnostic Modalities

The following modalities within the Commission’s Payment Schedule have been deemed ‘restricted.’  Any facility that wishes to provide and bill BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP) for these restricted services requires approval from the Committee or Commission.   The restricted diagnostic modalities include:
