Highway 1 - Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road

The Trans Canada Highway 1 4-Laning: Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road project will upgrade approximately 3.6 km of the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) and replace the Tappen Overhead bridge. The west limit of the project begins at Ford Road and extends through to its terminus 400 m east of Tappen Valley Road.

Improvements include:

  • 3.6 km section widened to four lanes
  • Installation of median barrier
  • New frontage roads which collect multiple driveways and consolidate access to and from the Trans-Canada Highway
  • Removal of the left-out movement from Tappen Valley Road via a grade separated crossing under the Trans-Canada Highway and right-turn acceleration/deceleration lanes
  • Replacement of the existing Tappen Overhead bridge
