Stone Creek to Williams Road

This project will upgrade 3 km of Highway 97 from Stone Creek to Williams Road from the current two lanes to four lanes.

This section of Highway 97 is approximately 25 km south of Prince George, between two recently improved Cariboo Connector four-lane projects. The completion of this project will result in about 11.5 km  of continuous four-laning along Highway 97.

The additional two lanes will be constructed below the original highway, along the bank of the Fraser River. The existing highway will remain where it is and have the following improvements:

  • Installation of 800 metres of retaining walls
  • Upgrades to drainage and structure
  • Riprap scour protection

This project will replace the CN Rail overhead crossing, as well as straighten out the curve that follows the underpass. These upgrades will improve safety for traveling motorists.
