Class D Gambling Event Licence ($5,000 or Less in Gross Revenue per Licence)

Class D gambling event licences allow eligible groups or organizations to fundraise by holding a gambling event or series of gambling events that will generate up to $5,000 in gross revenue. Gambling events include raffles and bingos. This page includes information about these licences, including: eligibility, how to apply, application resources (forms, tips, FAQs, etc.) and more.

Overview

Eligibility Your group or organization must include at least three members who take responsibility for the gambling event. Funds raised must be used to benefit a community and/or third party within British Columbia, or an eligible general purpose of your group or organization that provides direct benefit to a third party or the broader community. Details provided in Section 1.2 of Class D Licence - Guidelines and Conditions (PDF).

Individual sports teams are eligible for a Class D licence.

Note: For Class D events the maximum permitted price of tickets/bingo cards is $2 each and the maximum permitted value per prize is $500.

You must submit your gambling event licence application and all supporting documents ten (10) business days or more before the start of your event(s).

Ensure you attach all required supporting documents for your application at the time of submission. Application processing cannot start until all supporting documents have been received by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch

Typically, applicants will be notified within ten (10) business days of receipt of the application whether a licence will be issued. Please see additional processing time notes at the top of this page in the Overview section.

Community organizations may be audited by to ensure compliance with guidelines and conditions. The documents below provide general information about audits and also highlight areas that can give rise to non-compliance, but are easily rectified.

Use the Gaming Account Summary Report form to report all deposits to, and all disbursements from, your organization's Gaming Account(s) during your fiscal year. Organizations must submit this form within 90 days of their fiscal year-end.

Use the Gaming Event Revenue Report form to report all revenues and expenses associated with a licensed gambling event held by your organization. Organizations must submit this form within 90 days after the expiry of each gambling event licence.
