The Fire Commissioner's Commendation is a way of recognizing individuals who make outstanding contributions to fire safety in British Columbia. The commendation can be awarded to members of the public as well as the fire service. Commendations are coordinated through the Office of the Fire Commissioner.

To apply for a commendation, a local fire chief or the Local Assistant to the Fire Commissioner must send a letter of request to the Regional Fire Commissioner for their area. The letter must outline the incident and the nominee’s actions. The Regional Fire Commissioner will review each request and make a recommendation to the Fire Commissioner. If a commendation is approved, the Office of the Fire Commissioner will send it for presentation at the local level.
