I don't know where my former spouse is living. Can the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program (FMEP) help?

The Family Maintenance Enforcement Program (FMEP) can request up-to-date information about a payor's location, employment, and assets through a variety of federal and provincial computer databases.

The FMEP cannot guarantee it will ever locate the payor. Some payors make it very difficult for anyone to find them.

Whether the FMEP locates the payor, and how long it takes, will depend largely on how much information you can provide.

Information such as the kind of work the payor usually does, their social insurance number, birth date, and their mother's maiden name, are all useful in tracing a payor's location.
