Methods of Control Video Transcript
Benjamin Perrin, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of British Columbia:
The very best traffickers never once physically harm their victims. We’ve described that as, sort of, violence if necessary but not necessarily violence. And many of them know that if they push it too far, the death threats, the serious stuff, then that can prompt the victim to flee. And so they’re, the traffickers, are engaged in constant psychological manipulation with their victims to push them far enough to keep them under their control, but not so far as to get them to finally get the courage to escape.
