Major Project Contacts for the West Coast Region
The West Coast region covers a vast area of coastal B.C., including Vancouver Island, the Mainland Central Coast and Haida Gwaii. The region includes both heavily-populated areas like Greater Victoria and remote communities, including 56 First Nations communities.
Traditional mainstays of the coastal economy are fishing, forestry and coal mining. Clean energy projects (wind, water and tidal) are quickly gaining in economic importance. This region balances the rich environmental, ecological and cultural heritage with the well-being and economic aspirations of its communities.
