Solar Hot Water Ready Regulation
Being "solar hot water ready" helps homeowners:
- Increase energy efficiency
- Reduce costs of solar installations and energy consumption
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Cost effective: During construction of a new home, the cost to build a roof and walls strong enough to support a solar hot water system is about $200 - $500. A solar hot water system can then be installed at a future date for a lot less than it would cost to upgrade a home that isn't "solar hot water ready".
New homes only: The Solar Hot Water Ready Regulation applies to new single family homes (including ones with a secondary suite).
Community specific: The regulation is only used in communities that have opted to use the regulation.
