Codes Canada Public Review

Last updated: January 9, 2023

The BC Building, Plumbing and Fire Codes (BC Codes) are based substantially on the model Codes Canada Publications.  Changes to the Codes Canada Publications are typically adopted into the BC Codes.

This national public review took place between October 24 and December 23, 2022.

The Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) invited the public, Code users, and interested parties to take part in the first public review of proposed changes to the 2020 National Model Codes. The BC Codes are based on the National Model Codes and changes will likely be included in future BC Codes.

If approved by the CCBFC, the code changes will be published in the 2025 National Model Codes.
