B.C. Seasonal Domestic Farm Worker Covid-19 Safety: Financial Relief Program

The B.C. Seasonal Domestic Farm Worker Covid-19 Safety Program (the Program) is a cost-shared initiative that provides financial relief to farmers who are currently employing and/or have employed seasonal Domestic Farm Workers (DFWs) in 2021. Reimbursement is available for costs incurred to ensure compliance with COVID-19 health and safety measures for workers. The Program will reimburse up to 70% of costs for eligible on-farm improvements that contributed to the implementation of COVID-19 safety measures for seasonal DFWs to a maximum of $2,000 per farm business. On-farm improvements must have resulted in the addition, design, modification or organization of labour related facilities, infrastructure and services for workers in a way that enabled workers to comply with obligations under the Industrial Camp Order, when applicable, and/or to the employer’s Infection Prevention and Control Protocol or their Communicable Disease Prevention Plan.

Applicants will assume the full cost of on-farm labour related improvements and seek reimbursement from the Program via the submission of an Application Form and a subsequent Claim Form for their eligible expenses. The Program includes reimbursement for retroactive purchases that meet the eligibility criteria. Expenses must be incurred between April 1, 2021 and October 31, 2021 to be eligible for reimbursement.

Applications must be received by the Ministry no later than October 31, 2021 (11:59pm) and Claim Forms no later than November 30, 2021 (11:59pm). Applications and Claim Forms received after these dates will not be considered for reimbursement. If the maximum Program budget is allocated before October 31, 2021 the Ministry will close the Application intake. Applications will be reviewed, and approved Applications will be funded, in the order that they are received.

How to Apply

  1. Please review the Program details provided in the Program Guide, Application Form and Claim Form carefully to determine your eligibility. 
  2. Submit a completed Application Form to AGRI.SIP@gov.bc.ca. If your application is approved, the Ministry will provide you with a Claim Form.
  3. Review the Claim Form and ensure you have the information and proof of expenditures required for reimbursement.
  4. Submit the Claim Form as per instructions.
