Production Insurance in British Columbia offers continuous enrolment through its annual renewal process. This enables existing participants to maintain uninterrupted coverage and adjust their policies each year.

How to renew your Production Insurance coverage

Watch for your renewal notice

  • Each year, Production Insurance will send out renewal packages to enrolled producers, a minimum of 30 days before the start of the growing season.
  • The renewal package will include your coverage options, a listing of your insured crops, and premium details for the coming growing season.

Review your coverage

  • Check that the crops listed match what you plan to grow.
  • Adjust coverage levels if needed.
  • Ensure acreage and production estimates are accurate.

Submit your renewal

  • Sign and return the renewal form by the deadline specific to your crop type (e.g., tree fruits, berries, grain, forage, etc.).
  • Deadlines vary by plan and are clearly indicated in the renewal package. If you are unsure, please confirm with your local Production Insurance office, or on the Production Insurance website.

Pay your premium

  • Premiums are cost-shared. Farmers pay a portion, while provincial and federal governments pay the rest.
  • Payment must be made by the payment deadline to keep coverage active.

Confirmation of coverage

  • Once your renewal is processed and payment received, you'll get confirmation of coverage for the season.
  • Coverage begins once the crop year starts.

If you do not want to renew

In the event a policy is not renewed, Production Insurance will continue to send a renewal offer for up to 3 years. If you prefer not to receive offer package, please contact your local regional office to opt out.
