What is Production Insurance?

  • Production Insurance helps farmers protect against crop losses caused by uncontrollable natural events such as hail, frost, flooding, drought or excessive rain.
  • It stabilizes farm income by covering a wide range of crops including berries, grains, forage, grapes, tree fruits, and vegetables.
 

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Farmers and agricultural producers in British Columbia who grow insurable crops can apply.
  • All farm sizes and legal structures are eligible, from small family farms to larger operations.
 

How much does it cost?

  • Premiums are cost-shared between farmers, the provincial government, and the federal government.
