How to log in on a computer – or on a device without the app

Use the device you prefer. It can be a computer, laptop, or a device without the BC Services Card app. For example, you may prefer to use a computer when viewing or entering a large amount of information.

The app will just be used to prove who you are when you log in.

For example, you can use:

  • Laptop + mobile device with the app
  • iPadmobile device with the app
  • Shared computer (like at a library) + mobile device with the app
  • Work computer + your personal mobile device with the app

Pair device with device with app

There are two ways:

Enter a pairing code in the app

Step 1: Go to the website you want to log in to

On the device you want to use, go to the website of a government service.

Choose to log in with the BC Services Card.

Step 2: Choose to use the app

Step 3: Get a pairing code

It's only used one time – you don't need to remember it.

Step 1 Get Code

Step 4: Enter the pairing code

Open the app on your mobile device. Enter the pairing code and confirm you want to log in.

Enter code

Step 5: Choose if you want to skip pairing next time

If you're going to use the same computer again, choose to use a push notification to log in next time. It's a faster way to log in.

You will name your mobile device. This name shows as an option next time you log in. A push notification will be sent to that device.

remember

You will only be asked this if you have notifications enabled in the BC Services Card app so that push notifications can be sent to you.

Step 6: Login complete

On the website of the government service, you may be asked for more information. This information is only saved by the government service. What you do after you log in, is not saved in the app.

Remember:

  • What you do after you log in is not recorded
  • Which services you log in to are never shared

Receive a push notification to your mobile phone or tablet

You can log in by receiving a push notifications instead of entering a pairing code. It's a faster way to log in.

This option only works when you have:

  • Notifications enabled in the BC Services Card app so that push notifications can be sent to you
  • Previously logged in by entering a pairing code on a device, and chose to use push notifications next time (see above)

Step 1: Go to the website you want to log in to

On the device you want to use, go to the website of a government service.

Choose to log in with the BC Services Card.
