The BC Services Card is government-issued ID that enables secure, convenient access to government services online and in person. The card can be used to log in to participating government services online or your BC Services Card Account.
The BC Services Card program records when and how you use your card and the services you access. This information is used to protect your security and is available in your BC Services Card Account. You should log in to your account once a month to review where you have used your card and report any suspicious activity. If you see activity that you do not recognize, contact us.
Card and device protection
You are responsible for all activities that occur using your card and for protecting your device. It is important that you notify us if your card is lost or stolen.
If you lost your iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device with a mobile card set up on it:
- Only someone that can unlock your mobile device can use your mobile card
- You may want to wipe your mobile device
- You can go to a designated government counter to have your mobile card removed
Suspicious emails and phone calls
Do not respond to suspicious emails or phone calls requesting personal information or your device passcode. Your device passcode is confidential. We will never ask for your device passcode. Contact us about suspicious phone calls, and forward suspicious emails to email@example.com.
The only websites you should log in to with your BC Services Card are at id.gov.bc.ca – you should not use your card anyplace else.
Before logging in with your BC Services Card, check the top corner of your browser window. You should see a green padlock symbol and https://id.gov.bc.ca. In some browsers, 'Province of British Columbia', might also be displayed. These elements of the website address indicate you have a secure connection to the government login.
If you think you do not have a secure connection, do not continue login. Confirm the correct address of the government site. Open a new browser session and try again.
These are examples of what a secure connection looks like:
