Raincoast Trading is proud to offer consumers sustainably harvested, gourmet canned seafood.
The company’s key export offering is their line of wild-caught, sustainable-harvested and hand-packed canned seafood products. The company’s seafood is single-cooked and packed in natural fish oils, which results in a rich, dense flavour and loads of extra nutrition. Their wide range of canned products are made from B.C. seafoods including wild solid white albacore tuna, wild sockeye salmon and wild pink salmon, available in additional variations such as no salt, skinless and smoked.
The company also offers a line of canned wild pacific sardines, in flavours such as chili & lime, dill & parsley and cumin & coriander. Additional offerings include wild smoked salmon lox and organic capers. Product safety is ensured by making all products traceable, with an audited recall process in place as part of the company’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan. First established in 1962 in Nanaimo, Raincoast Trading is led by Mike Wick, who comes from a family that has been in the fishing business for four generations. In 2013, Raincoast Trading was acquired by St. Jeans Cannery and Smokehouse, another family business located in Nanaimo that has been providing high-quality smoking, hand packing, and canning for 50 years.
Raincoast Trading adheres to the highest sustainability standards when catching, processing and packaging its seafood. It is the first Canadian packaged retail seafood company endorsed by the respected Ocean Wise conservation program as an environmentally friendly seafood choice for retail grocers and consumers around the world.
