CleanBC Industry Fund

The CleanBC Industry Fund (Fund) is managed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy to support B.C.’s transition to a cleaner, stronger economy.

Fund Information

The Fund supports industry investments that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from large industrial operations.

It does so by investing some of the revenue from incremental carbon taxes paid by industry directly into industrial emission reduction projects, making B.C. industries cleaner and stronger. In the 2019/20 fiscal year, $12.5 million in funding is available for emission reduction projects.

The Program is only available to industrial reporting operations throughout British Columbia that report their emissions under the Greenhouse Gas Industrial Reporting and Control Act (i.e., those with attributable GHG emissions of 10,000 tonnes or more carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) per year, as prescribed in the Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulation).

How to Apply

1. Expression of Interest

A call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) was released March 18, 2019, and Responses were accepted until April 19, 2019 for Projects to be considered in the 2019/2020 Funding Year.

The 2019 Call for Expression of Interest is now closed.

A new EOI will be issued for future funding calls. Please stay tuned.

2. Request for Proposal

The second stage of the competitive process to apply to the Fund is now open.  Only project proposals that have been pre-qualified through the EOI process are eligible to submit a Request for Proposal (RFP).

Eligible projects may request up to fifty percent (50%) of eligible project costs from the Fund, up to a maximum of $2 million.

Proposals will be evaluated based on criteria described in the RFP, and funding will be awarded to the highest-ranked projects, subject to funding availability.

For a Proposal to be considered for funding, an applicant must clearly demonstrate that they meet the requirements as set out in the RFP.
