The Province of B.C. checks in with communities and shares this information back to support your economic development needs, approaches, and goals. Below are survey results we hope will help you better understand B.C.’s economic development landscape.


2018 Survey Results

The Province of B.C. partnered with the Union of British Columbia Municipalities for the 2018 survey.

The results provide insights into how economic development is delivered and funded; what communities see as their priorities, assets, and challenges; the shape of partnerships in B.C.; and deeper dives into things like sustainability, tourism, and small business.

Three versions of the results are available:

  • The Summary Infographic (PDF, 1.8 MB) summarizes the top findings into a convenient one-pager.

  • The Top 12 Findings (PDF, 2.8 MB) contains the most important highlights from the complete results and analysis.

  • To see the full results, containing a full analysis of the survey results, including graphs, charts, and technical tables of all of the questions asked, please email us at economicdevelopment@gov.bc.ca.


2016 Survey Results

The 2016 survey, done in partnership with the BC Economic Development Association and the Union of BC Municipalities, looks at economic development structures, priorities, collaborations, and challenges.

Three versions of the results are available:

  • The Summary Infographic (PDF, 558 KB) summarizes the top findings into a convenient one-pager.

  • The Summary Report (PDF, 1 MB) contains a summary of the results, including graphs, charts, and key take-aways.

  • The Technical Report (PDF, 1.1 MB) contains tables of all of the questions asked with the answers from each group of respondents.
