Description

Considerable time and energy was spent on continuing to learn more about the re-designed curriculum as well as assessment practices. To that effect, teachers of French Core and Immersion took part in workshops, professional development sessions and meetings designed to advance their learning in the key competencies. Resources were purchased to support their work in this area. We had also created a new timetable for the 2016-2017 school year which helped support more opportunities for teachers to collaborate and participate in a mentorship program. Since we now know this was successful, we will continue in the same vein for 2017-2018.  Furthermore, our Technology acquisitions provide opportunities in two ways:   1. Students now have even more access to the tools they need and 2. Staff have more access to the tools they need to communicate with parents in a more timely and regular manner.

Outcome

All of our second language programs have benefited from an influx of resources. During the year, teachers had more access to professional development accessible in a variety of ways. The combination of appropriate resources and professional relationships is setting us up for continued success.
