Explore is a five-week intensive French-immersion program that is offered during the spring or summer for students of all skill levels in French.
Explore offers you five weeks full of opportunities to make discoveries, meet new people and exchange ideas in a stimulating setting for learning French.
Explore offers courses tailored to your level (beginner, intermediate or advanced), as well as many activities allowing you to meet your counterparts from across the country who also want to learn or improve their French. Participants live in a student residence on campus or with a French-speaking homestay family.
A typical day consists of a minimum of three hours of class time, two hours of workshops (such as photography, theatre, cooking and wall-climbing), and one hour of socio-cultural activities (such as outdoor activities, off-campus tours and visits to major cultural landmarks).
High school students can earn four credits towards graduation. Post-secondary students may also receive credits for this program. Recognition of post-secondary credits depends on the institution that the participant attends in the academic year following the program. Participants should approach their institution directly to ask about credit transfer.
The Explore program covers the following costs:
- tuition fees for the course
- instructional materials
Travel costs, a non-refundable registration fee and pocket money are not covered. Some optional activities may also be offered for a nominal fee.
Explore participants must:
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (those studying in Canada on a student visa are not eligible)
- be 16 years old by the time the course begins
- have been a full-time student for at least one semester during the current school year.
