Program Requirements

Strong English skills are required to study the B.C. curriculum - this includes reading, writing and speaking skills. Students are most successful when they join program during or before Grade 10.

B.C. K-12 International Student Homestay Guidelines

Homestay plays a pivotal role in an international student’s experience. B.C. is committed to high-quality homestay experiences for all international students. The guidelines communicate the Ministry’s expectations regarding the placement of minor international students with homestay families.

The K-12 International Student Homestay Guidelines are available in the following languages:

International Education Scholarships

B.C. provides scholarship and awards for:

  • B.C. students and teachers going on mobility activities abroad to further develop intercultural skills and experience
  • International students coming to B.C. to study at the K-12 level for the first time, and for international students graduating from a B.C. public, independent or offshore school and entering an approved B.C. post-secondary institution; and,
  • B.C. students studying Chinese language and culture.
