The Education Facilitator for French Immersion at McMath Secondary School was keen to support language fluency in senior students. He started an extracurricular French Improv club that met at lunch time over the year, and, together with another French Immersion teacher, taught and coached Improv skills. The team practiced regularly, and entered the Franco-Columbian Improvisation League (LIFC). At the annual Fesitival Du Bois celebrations in March, the team won 4th place out of eight teams, and represented themselves very well as the only French Immersion team in the competition.

The students reported that the improv skills helped them to think more quickly and confidently in French, and that they enjoyed taking their language outside of the classroom. They also reported that the Festival Du Bois was a rich cultural experience. Click here for photos.
