During the 2006 Census, 196,075 British Columbians identified themselves as Aboriginal. Aboriginal people live in many different areas of the province, and B.C. is home to 200 First Nations communities.
Statistics Canada started the Aboriginal Community Data Initiative to provide Aboriginal communities with important data for planning and understanding the demographics of their community, and the population in surrounding areas.
A list of First Nation community profiles has been created and may be filtered by economic region or by First Nation community. Excel files are also provided to support the data which appear in the PDF profiles.
