Issue 20-29: Wholesale Sales

Sales by wholesalers in the province ended the year on a low note, stalling in December (-0.3%).
Nationally, the value of wholesale sales edged up 0.9%, as higher sales in the two largest provinces offset weakness in other parts of the country. Four of seven subsectors recorded higher sales, led by the motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector.
During 2019, the value of wholesale sales in B.C. dipped 2.0%. The decrease was converse to the national increase of 2.2% but was similar to declines recorded in neighbouring Alberta (-0.9%) and Manitoba (-2.3%).
