Canadian real GDP by industry at basic prices advanced 0.5% in March, following a 0.2% decline in the previous month.

The goods-producing industries expanded 0.7%. The increase in mining, quarrying, and oil & gas extraction (+2.0%), manufacturing (+0.9%) and construction (+0.5%) offset the decline in utilities (-1.8%) and agriculture, forestry, fishing & hunting (-0.3%).

The services-producing industries were up (+0.4%), led by transportation & warehousing (+1.4%), wholesale trade (+1.1%), finance & insurance (+0.9%) and arts, entertainment & recreation (+0.6%). Administrative & support, waste management & remediation services (-0.1%) was the only service-producing industry that posted declines.
