Visitor entries to B.C. from the U.S. and overseas increased (+1.3%, seasonally adjusted) for the third straight month in May. Entries from overseas sources jumped 2.0%, and travel to B.C. from the U.S. was also up (+1.1%). Fewer entries from North and Central America and the Caribbean (-6.0%) and South America (-8.6%) were offset by boosts in visitors coming to B.C. from other parts of the world, including Asia (+1.1%) and Europe (+6.6%).
Overall travel to Canada was up slightly (+0.5%) in May. Visits from the U.S. inched up 0.1%, while travel from overseas sources saw a more notable increase (+1.8%) from the previous month. Meanwhile, the number of Canadians returning home from abroad rose 0.9%.
