Issue 18-52: Manufacturing Sales

B.C. manufacturing sales (seasonally adjusted) went down by 1.1% in January compared to December, led by decreases in non-metallic mineral products (‑11.5%) and wood products (‑9.8%) manufacturing. Transportation equipment manufacturing saw the largest increase in the month (+17.8%).
Nationally, sales of manufactured goods decreased by 1.0% in January compared to the previous month. Excluding sales of motor vehicles, parts and accessories (‑6.1%), national manufacturing sales were down 0.1%.
Manufacturing sales were down in five of the provinces, with the largest provincial decreases observed in Prince Edward Island (‑13.0%) and Nova Scotia (-7.0%). Meanwhile, Saskatchewan (+5.7%) grew at the fastest pace among provinces.
