Issue 18-217 Wholesale Sales
December 20, 2018
Sales by wholesalers in the province stalled for the second consecutive month in October (-0.6%, seasonally adjusted), due in large part to a slowdown in the machinery, equipment and supplies subsector.
Nationally, the value of wholesale sales climbed 1.0%, as higher sales in the two largest provinces offset weakness in other parts of the country. Sales were up in four subsectors, most notably in machinery, equipment and supplies (+2.8%) and personal and household goods (+3.1%).
