Revenues generated in British Columbia’s food service and drinking places industry fell by 1.4% (seasonally adjusted) in November, the largest decrease among provinces. Among industry sub‑types, the largest drops were observed in drinking places and full-service restaurants.
Nationally, sales in food services and drinking places were down by 0.2% in November compared to October. Declines were observed in both limited-service (‑0.2%) and full-service (‑0.4%) restaurants.
Sales fell in six provinces in November, with the largest decline in British Columbia, followed by Alberta (‑1.3%). Increases occurred in Nova Scotia (+1.4%), Ontario (+0.4 %), Quebec (+0.4%) and New Brunswick (+0.1%).
